Probably already been said, but thought Fredericks was much better as a winger as a defender . Using his speed to take on defenders are better than the other way around.

Sir Alf , good points , but Virginia is right , who of any quality would want to be an understudy to Rice/Soucek . Maybe Conor Coventry can fill that role . Cresswell cannot be first choice next season and neither can Fabianski. He had not much to do last night , but I think his reflexes and agility are in serious decline , compounded by him not being the biggest keeper around .

Sir Alf,
With those two and their fitness records, where would you get another decent midfielder from to back them up?
Who'd want to come?

Yeah it was hard to fault Fredericks. Yes he has some limitations technically but it looks like he is being coached better now. Moyesiah said Nolan, Irvine. Pearce and Paul Nevin all work with different areas of the team at times and with individuals. Fredericks passing and decision making was much better last night. Maybe because our movement was better and he had clearer options ? Hard to tell but he was less guilty of giving possession away.
He is obviously not as skilful or technically gifted as Bowen but he is a lot faster. That will create a lot of chances assuming he can continue to deliver decent crosses as, to be fair, he did last night. Main thing is that he may now be another decent option in the wing back or wide right role for some games.
The real weakness in the squad remains though, central midfield should the unthinkable happen and Soucek or RIce get crocked, forward to replace Antonio and left back. Cresswell did well going forward once again and good in the air etc. but looked very uncomfortable when Grealish moved over to his side although unlike Coufal he did not have Fredericks to back him up.
Anyway, lets see if Moyes and his coaching team can continue to improve us.

Fortunes: I thought he did well. Important tackle late on with Grealish who cheated a corner out of it. And aside from the defensive duties supporting Coufal, slid in a few tasty crosses from the oppo’s byline.

Not a moan.
Did anyone see Fredericks try to head the ball twice, when it was coming out the sky and fooked it up both times.

Excellent from everyone, last night. I was so impressed.
The Liverpool performance was really an anomaly, a stand out bad match. We were pressed hard at times last night, but everyone calmly passed their way out of the press, as we have done vs many other teams this season, including Liverpool at Anfield. On Sunday, I think the difference was an almost expectation from neutrals, pundits and fans, that we would beat Liverpool, and it got into the boys heads and fucked something up.
We were back to the high levels that we're starting to get used to; even batter than that, in fact.
Cheered me right up after the lost bottle match at the weekend.

Really think that this game was a turning point. Excellent all-round performance following the Liverpool game. In the past, we wouldn't have bounced back in such style. As Moyes keeps saying we are not the finished article but we are getting better. Long may it continue. COYI

Coufel is a leader starts off in high tempo and this then has a knock on effect on others Chicken run would have loved him. Hammer of the year.

Excellent debut by Lingard last night whose mobility was effectively used by the Moyes set up and his team mates willingness to exploit it.
Plenty of attempts by Lingard too using either foot when the opportunities arrived. Villa’s Keeper got to both of Lingard’s shots that went in and on another night he might have saved both. On the other hand Antonio’s canny lob might have gone in any other time.
All in all a great response to our second half and match losing display to Liverpool.
In front of the Rice/Soucek partnership other than Antonio there is genuine competition for places now that Lingard is here and Fredericks has shown what he can do.

My favourite bit of the night when listening to Hoddle on BT Sport (I don't think I have ever said that before) was when Villa scored their excellent goal.
'Villa are right back in this game, you can see them now up their tempo and smell blood. This is going to be very nervy for West Ham now...game on!'
Cue us strolling up the other end and scoring almost immediately to make it 1-3.
The cunt didn't say another single word for about 5 minutes. He seemed GUTTED.
Lovely.

Outstanding performance. Players and manager both very very good last night. After sunday and the team sheets came out did not expect us to play as well as that
Every single one of them were a 9 or 10 out of 10. Created shit load of chances away from home again. two RB's a masterstroke. The 2 Czech mates and Antonio superb then Lingard notches 2 on debut.
One of the best wins this season, superb. 2 of the bottom 3 up next........lets keep this up
